Endorsements

“Maureen Madden

State Representative

I am honored to endorse John Huddleston for Middle Smithfield Township Supervisor. In my role as Chair of the House Aging & Older Adult Services Committee, I’ve seen how much our community benefits from leaders who give of themselves rather than seek to take. That same spirit guides John’s candidacy.
Pennsylvania is moving forward with initiatives like the PA CareKit, part of our “Aging Our Way, PA” 10-year plan to better support unpaid caregivers, older adults, and people with disabilities. John understands this work personally. His mother, Helen, served as an occupational therapist, in touch with the Monroe County Area on Aging; she devoted decades to helping disabled veterans at the VA in Wilkes-Barre. Service runs in his family — and John is carrying that legacy forward.
Like me, John is motivated by a desire to strengthen our community, not for personal gain, but out of gratitude for the place we call home. With his deep roots, professional experience, and genuine commitment to our residents, I am confident John Huddleston will be a Township Supervisor who leads with integrity, compassion, and dedication.

Tarah Verwey Probst

State Representative.

I am proud to endorse John Huddleston for Middle Smithfield Township Supervisor.  John and I share more than just geography, we share deep roots in this community and grew up together graduating from East Stroudsburg High School. We have seen the changes in Middle Smithfield Township, both its strengths and weaknesses.

As someone who served as Stroudsburg’s first female Mayor for seven years and now representing the 189th District in the House Of Representatives, I know what it means to dedicate one’s time, energy, and heart to public service.

John is in this race for the right reasons as these are labor of love roles.

John is in this race not to take from the community, but instead, to give back.  He brings decades and verifiable leadership experience, a passion for improving everyday life in the township, a genuine listener to issues, and a commitment to integrity and dedication to serve the constituents of Middle Smithfield Township. On November 4th, please vote John Huddleston for Middle Smithfield Township Supervisor.

These are labor-of-love roles.

Commissioner Pike County

Tom Yanac

Coroner

As Monroe County Coroner, I have witnessed firsthand the importance of public servants who lead with empathy, integrity, and a deep sense of duty. That’s why I enthusiastically endorse John Huddleston for Township Supervisor.
John has demonstrated a commitment to community that matches his professional acumen. He understands that public office is not about titles or perks, but about serving neighbors, supporting families, and making decisions rooted in care, not convenience.
In my role, I confront difficult, sensitive circumstances every day. I deeply respect those who choose to step forward, not because it’s easy, but because they feel compelled to give back. John embodies that spirit. He carries forward a legacy of service inspired by his mother and has built a reputation for responsibility and thoughtfulness in all he does.
I have no doubt John will bring the same professionalism, compassion, and moral backbone to Middle Smithfield Township that I strive to bring to every investigation. He is the sort of leader our community deserves — and I stand firmly with him.

Sandee and Ray Freeman, Lifelong Republicans

My husband Ray and I have been Republicans our whole life and Middle Smithfield residents for 49 years. My husband Ray and I were co-owners of Dr Spa (swimming pools and hot tubs) in Jay Park, Marshalls Creek for twenty years; now we are retired.

Over the decades, I was the Director of the Fernwood Ski School where John was an instructor. John was exactly what you hope for in a young professional: great with people, dependable, and willing to do the hard work. I still run into him often, both at his job and community functions, and that same respectful, can-do attitude has never changed.

Service to this community matters to me. John is running for Supervisor, for public service, not self service. I volunteered 12 years with Bushkill Emergency Corps and 25 years with the Marshalls Creek Fire Company. That’s why I appreciate John’s focus on strengthening Fire/EMS, improving east-west road connections to cut response times, and broadening our tax base by supporting local businesses, so we protect homeowners without raising taxes.

Local government should be practical, fiscally responsible, and responsive. John listens, he shows up, and he treats everyone, no matter what party or background, with respect. He’s not chasing headlines; he’s solving problems.

From one lifelong Republican to my neighbors: John Huddleston is the steady, community-minded choice for Township Supervisor. Please join me and my husband Ray in voting for John

“I am proud to support the candidacy of John Huddleston for Supervisor. John is a man of integrity whose welcoming demeanor, dedication to community, and commitment to open public engagement will make him an outstanding asset to Middle Smithfield Township.”

Barbara Van Nortwick, M.Ed.

I am a long-time Middle Smithfield Township resident, and I support John Huddleston. I’ve spent my entire career helping people enhance their cognitive and leadership skills, so I recognize genuine leadership when I see it, and John Huddleston exemplifies it.
John’s mother and I used to go to PA Occupational Therapy meetings in the Scranton and Wilkes-Barre region. I first met John when he managed his team at Weis Markets. What impressed me most was how approachable he was, and how sincerely he listened to both his staff and his customers. When challenges arose, John worked side-by-side with his team to find solutions, encouraging them to take ownership and learn from the process. That kind of collaborative problem-solving builds confidence and trust, which are qualities every good leader needs.
John is also remarkably resourceful. When faced with a question, he doesn’t just give an answer, he seeks out the right answer, creating a win-win for everyone involved. His curiosity and commitment to understanding issues from all sides will serve Middle Smithfield Township well as it plans for the future.
As a lifelong local resident, John cares deeply about the people and the resources of this township. His excellent managerial skills, paired with his compassion and integrity, make him exactly the kind of leader we need, and one who will guide our community with care, dignity, and pride.
Vote for John Huddleston for Middle Smithfield Township Supervisor. He listens. He leads. And he truly cares.
